ANSI Dragon by woekitten ANSI Dragon by woekitten
Probably not so impressive to you young 'uns with your Wacom tablets and Photoshop. But in my day, we had to do computer art in MS DOS and we had no choice about it, well, actually, that's a fucking lie.

But seriously, this was for an old college project -- we had to make a piece of ANSI art. I've forgotten how to do anything with ANSI, but I do remember the process being a big smelly pain in the ass.

Yup, good old dial tones and Telix. Another node, another day. I totally worship the likes of ACID and ICE for their outstanding text mode artwork. Here's something that will blow your mind. Ever seen 3D animated text mode in real time rendering?

Wow....Looks like a general pain in the ass to create, but it's nice. :) Shoot, I think the closest we came to this sort of stuff was LOGO back in grade school. That itself was ass on a soda cracker, but nothing compared to this, I'm sure.

Clever! Something different. And it came out well considering the media used. Nice job!

Oh neat. How did you do that? Was there a program for it or did you have to hand-code everything?

I forgot exactly how it worked ... there was indeed a program you'd need to make DOS be able to display the colours. After that, every thing had to be hand-coded.
